Ned, this is beautiful !!

When I was in Toronto for the symposium, I got a bit of time to wander around with a camera. I stayed with my niece, right downtown near the St. Lawrence Market.

Public art in the old days, southwest style.
This photo is from June 21, 2015 so is not illegible for this months shooting assignment.. but wanted to share it.

Summer Solstice @ Bar V Bar Heritage site. Petroglyphs, are a form of public art, that were often set up and used as a calendars. Here, the local Southern Sinagua residents, between about 1150 and 1400 AD, created a display for when yearly events, such as planting ect, where to take place. By watching the sun, cast its shadows onto, or through, a particular group of symbols, it would inform them what the 'date' was and the action that the tribe needed to take.

Created from natural rock formations, as well as added rocks placed and aligned in the natural cracks.
This rock art site, .. consists of 1,032 petroglyphs in 13 panels.

The long, lighter tone rock, placed in the crack, located in the lower right edge of the photo, cannot cast a shadow onto the Winter Solsice. Only late in the day, when the sun finally touches this area, having gone past the cliff edge that rises above it to the west, (towards the right) thus keeping all these petroglyphs in shadow, because the sun is so low in the sky at that time of year in the northern hemisphere.. The shadow it casts, is interesting and significant, for it displays a shadow image, much like the view seen, when looking south west, from the Wupatki pubelo ruins location, of the distant San Francisco peaks, that are located north of Flagstaff az. That's over 60miles away as the crow flies.

Thanks! The POV and distortion from the curved paper makes it a little strange looking and "different", to say the least.
The hand is about 8 feet tall ( ~2.5 meters ), but that phillips screw in the lower left corner was less than 1/2 inch in diameter ( well under 1 cm ).

I confused that Phillips screw with a street lamp ...

Apologies for my tardiness. Was going to print my entry, but dont think I will have time, so will settle for a neg scan.
Its called "The Banker" its appropriately on the side of a bank building. Used Agnes a 620 box camera with inverted lens, as you do, hp5 in d76. Scan and tidy up.

I'll be back in the evening (MESZ) to decide on the winner - stay tuned !

'Mascerade in public' (as we all know, Bertus collects models … ) is one of my favorites!

NedL : Your pinhole photography is always amazing - great art (as usual)! I prefer your first entry
(= the bust in sepia).

"Give Us a Hand" by sly (aka 'silverlilly') is beautiful and has a clear message - enjoyed it!

'The Banker' by Paul (awty) using a 620 box camera with an inverted lens is an eyecandy -
very unique work!

'Steel Lifeguards' by hoffy (he didn't play in the MSA before) is my winner -
love everything about this photograph - the sculpture itself, the composition, tonality,
focus and sharpness and ... A photograph "exactly what I was looking for".
