Hey guys! I’m a black & white film photographer moving from Texas to Florida at the end of the month. Just curious what kinds of resources are in the area?

Nothing that I recall. The last time I was through, there was an old photography store with all the Kodak signs still out front, but the business inside was mostly something else. Just up the road in Gainesville there nay still may be a good sized photo store. There’s a great gallery at UF that brings in good exhibits.

the best thing in Ocala is 'Tilted Kilt'; good food, good drink and plenty of 'eye candy'

I've been here 25 years, (from NYC) - Tampa Bay area. Like the rest of the world the photo stores are now few and far between, so lots of commerce over the net! The hardest part is learning to appreciate what Florida has to offer - photographically and otherwise!

Welcome!

I lived near Ocala from 2012-2017;I'm afraid it's slim pickins and Amazon is your best friend.

Orlando may be the best bet, and it's close. Get ready to say Hi to the traffic out that way.

There was a guy at the huge indoor/outdoor Daytona Flea Market (Daytona Beach is right down the road) by the NASCAR track who had a LOT of great old cameras, but that was years ago. Downtown on the mainland, there's antique shops and indoor flea markets, those are always a good place for old cameras. Still, the big flea market is a good place to check, and it goes on 7 days a week.

You're probably closer to D.B. than Tampa/St Pete, but either way it's under 2 hrs. Which is cool, because you get to see the difference between the 2 coasts of Fl. Very different from each other.

I'm in Tallahassee and am thinking about downsizing my darkroom. Lemme know if you need any random gear. ^_^
