hello apug.
i wonder if someone has had success mounting a barrel lens or a shuttered lf lens on a rz67 body.
i would like to use a heliar 150 as a portrait lens on mine. its in a fine compur shutter.
thanks for sharing,
chris

I have seen an adaptor to mount LF lenses on RB, so this may work on RZ with RB mode, but I am not sure - see ebay item 173268086232.

interesting! but expensive. wonder if someone has a diy solution. certain pins need to be pressed to allow the mirror to go go i guess? it cpuld work like this. 1. open the preview lever of the compur shutter, compose. 2. close it. 3. mirror mup 4. expose using compur shutter 5. mirror down 6. film advance.
i guess??

Are you planning to find a broken or cheap lens to use the mount? I've done this a couple of times to try a lens on a Pentax 35mm body- rip apart a 50mm f/2 lens for parts. With a little work you can even gut the body and use the focusing helical of the original lens. I don't know much about the RZ67 and the issues of lens/body interaction.

You could probably start with the short extension tube or the SB spacer as the donor mount. it's going to be a bit complex and somewhat limited on lens choice. The 150 would probably work but that would likely be about the shortest lens you could make work this way, since all the RZ lenses are retrofocus. The throat diameter woudl be a limiting factor in some ways also, depending on the LF lens in question. Firing the RZ in Bulb mode is one option I'd think, or pre-release the mirror and use it that way (like when using a dual-cable release with the RZ).

tx thats what i thought! great input. will try with the small extension tube. if i use the 150mm heliar it will be for portraits, so so problem with bellows extension. gonna try tonight

you may need to cannibalize a lens to make this happen. Fortunately there are plenty of cheap RZ parts lenses out there, and sourcing one should not be too hard. What you really need to do is just get the mirror to go up and down, the shutter will take care of itself of course. What's the mirror-lock-up procedure on the RZ? I forget offhand, I don't use that function very often If at all.

mirror-lock-up: set R-M lever to M > shutter speed dial to 'RBL' > cocking lever > mirror is up >use shutter in your 'barrel lens' > make photo > mirror stays open > set R-M lever in middle position > use cocking lever: closing the mirror and transports the film > usw
(mirror-lock-up with RZ lens is with dual-cable release) How do you want to 'connect' the barrel lens to the camera ??

greetings

All Rb67 lenses are supposed to work also with the rz67. F.i. the 180 mm is constructed to make the whole lens group (all in front of the shutter) unscrew to make place for barrel lenses (sadly, though, it doesn't work with my sample, as something wrong with the assembly). But I was lucky to get a cheap, beat up rz110mm lens with a working shutter so I discarded the lens elements. It has a nice large screw mount in front (something like 40mm I think, sorry I don't have it around at present). Both ways could do?
