Hi guys.

Well, I've already asked the question in the ACUG group, but I will try in here as well.
Is there a website with an index of which film types was used in various motion pictures?

The Internet Movie Database http://www.imdb.com frequently includes this information when known. This information is generally visible in its website. The various apps that can be used frequently do not show this information.

I tried it several times before I got any result, even many classic movies are not listed.

For the "Rear Window" from 1954 they state EASTMAN EXR 100T Film 5248, 7248 !!!

I think some films are shot on more than one kind of stock, sort of matching the tool to the need. The example listed above, Rear Window, the 5248 is 35mm and 7248 is 16mm. The endless agonizing in cinematography or still photography on what film, what camera, what lens, what aperture, what shutter speed, what EV, etc. The whole world trying to figure out when Ansel Adams shot Moonrise, etc. I think is pretty boring. What and when never interests me, how and why are the meat of photographic creation.

The above films are about 15 years old, they cannot had been used in 1954. Thus you cannot deduce from such erroneous statement that two formats had been used. The editor of that listing just took the header of some Kodak data sheet.

EASTMAN EXR 100T Film 5248/7248 was introduced in 1989, so was obviously not used for Rear Window. However, Kodak reuses the numeric stock codes, and there was indeed a 5248 stock available in 1954, a 25T Eastmancolor film. Rear Window might well have been shot on that.

More to my point, 52xx is 35mm and 72xx is 16mm.
