Hi guys. First of all I need to say that I am a complete beginner, so I apologize for my lack of expertise and ignorance in the matter. I recently bought a Pentax mv1 (of course second-hand).
My question is the following: Can I take pictures without batteries?
I'd really appreciate any suggestions, or your previous experience.
Thank you very much.

You can use the flash setting without gatteries, but you have no metering, for using he fully auto and full range of shutter speeds you need 2 lr44 batteries they should be pretty widely availlable, over here these button batteries are available in most supermarkets, DIY shops and are pretty much standard for a wide range of applications, not just cameras.they go in the bottom of the camera where there is a screw battery top, at least they do in my MV1

Hi Richard, thank you very much!
I have inserted the batteries and I will try it. I cannot understand if the camera is working with the batteries, cause there is no test button, or such.
Anyway, this camera has a problem: the film rewind knob and the film speed dial are damaged. Any suggestion for this? Can I fix it, or substitute them?
So, can you confirm that even without batteries I might be able to take pictures?
Thank you again!

You should be able to take a photo without battery's but you need a hand held exposure meter and you would only have one shutter speed of 1/100 second, as far as repairs sorry I can't help you

I see that you are in Denmark. I don't know how hard to get a Pentax MV in Denmark but the camera is not worth paying someone to repair it.

Just checking ebay.COM, the camera BODY ONLY starts at about $30 (US). And just a few more items down, a camera AND a lens AND a flash is going for $35 (US). I can't see you getting your current camera body fixed for that amount. With that in mind I'd definitely look into purchasing a new (used) model, but ALWAYS check the fine print in the descriptions of the items, for I have seen ones headed with 'Perfect and Mint' only to give a long list of bits not working further down the page!
