More Hasselblad help - what’s this modification?

Hi everyone, more Hasselblad help needed!

Scored another EL/M body on eBay to repair but this one has some quirky modifications, possibly for survey work, who can shed light on this?

Strangest of all, the gear that engages the film back has teeth all the way around, there’s no flush portion - what sort of back would this work with?

Lots of wiring and modification to the back? Two ports on the camera side, 2.5mm jack and something else. Who’d care to guess what this was all for

Someone in my car club once told me that in the old days, traffic radar speed traps had motorized Hasselblad cameras in them with a 70mm film back. I wondered if the police would really put an expensive Hasselblad in a small towable trailer by the side of the road, but if the story is true, then that may be what you have.

Humm. It could be for a proprietary digital back for production monitoring in a factory.

In the second photo there is a surplus lenghth of that bundle of wires. Why?
Just this bundle alone has about 20 strands. Why?

That’s a good question - the wires don’t appear to go anywhere but would have gone into a film back if it was fitted by the way they line up with the back of the camera body?

In case there was a 7-segment exposing display in the film plane, then just one assembly would have needed 8 strands, each more another 7.
