Hi you all,
I'm proud to be chosen by Rachelle in the previous MSA as the next person to host this new MSA for November-December 2014.
I (Twinbert-1) had a good chat with Twinbert-2 (=Bertus) about choosing a theme. Ideas like "Going Dutch" came up (we're both Dutch you know) but were rejected in the end.
Finally I got back to what photography is/could be/should be in essence - at least to me. I often end my emails to other photographers with the wish: "Have fun and catch that light beam". And as Twinbert-2 often says: "Photography is writing with light".
So the new theme will be:
"How to catch a light beam".
You're free to explore this theme in any analogue way possible. Your imagination is your only limit.
If need be, here are some suggestions (in no particular order):
* how do you personally "write with light"?
* you can make a portrait, using split lightning, like Rembrandt did in his paintings.
* you can catch that single ray of light through the dark clouds on a stormy day or at sunset.
* photograph the eye of a hurricane (disclaimer: better watch The Perfect Storm first).
* watch for that sprinkle of light in the eye of a newborn baby or of an elder person in his last days.
* make a nice "pictorialism aera" image, like they did about 100 years ago.
* or just show us that single image, made perfect by an unpredictable light leak.
* or registering the light of a star trail after traveling so many years through outer space.
* show us how in your eyes someone is "the light of the world" as meant in Matthew 5:14 (and the salt of the world as well, but that was already in a previous MSA).
* catch that small ray of light with a long time exposure of a pinhole camera.
* since the Christmas days are included in this MSA period: show us the real light of Christmas coming into this world.
* make a light painting with a torch at night.
* show us the lights of Autumn.
* and don't forget to have fun in the process ...
Just amaze us with your interpretation.

Most importantly:
1) The image itself must be made between November 1st and December 31st, 2014.
2) The image must be made with some sort of analogue contraption, sometimes called a camera (i.e. non-digital).
