Monthly Shooting Assignment - Jan/Feb 2009: An Image of Contrasts

I start a new thread for the Jan/Feb 2009 Monthly Shooting Assignment (MSA) and here it is:
An image of objects with a striking difference that shows their relative excellence; large/small, dark/blonde, ugly/beautiful, straight/bent, horizontal/vertical, rough/smooth, strong/weak, hot/cold, wet/dry etc.

You will find instructions on MSA entry by FilmSprocket. (there was a url link here which no longer exists)

And of course a BIG congratulation to Nuno Souto for the great image in the Nov/Des 08 MSA "An Image of the profession"

Dang! I thought this assignment wasn't due yet ...

Seriously, many of us are still in holiday-hangover mode, and it's winter, and ...

You are absolutely right, it's not due before end of february 2009.
But I see it as my duty to pull you out of the holliday hangover state the earlier the better!

Yeah, same here. And a pile of work as well, with half the staff on hols and me left holding the stick. Plus a bad case of neck pain - the real one - been in and out of the chiro about every 3rd day. Starting to feel like I can sleep again, but it's been a long haul...

Got a couple up my sleeve, just have to spend the time scanning and finishing them off before putting them up.

A couple of questions:

Never having been involved in an MSA, is it open to all and does one need to declare intent to participate?

Co-incidentally I started a project yesterday which may be ideal, IF (!)dyptics would be acceptable....it is one image uploaded annd presented as two (or, is that vica-versa?). Thanks for the answers!

Anybody can partisipate without any formality with one or more image(s). Any image accepted at APUG, is also accepted for MSA. See link in the beginning of this tread for more details.

We got contributions with different kind of contrasts in size, age, seasons, light, shapes, conditions and others.

It's my pleassure to appoint Fall/Winter (there was a url link here which no longer exists) by barbara ann as the winner of the January / February 2009 MSA.

The image is a beautiful catch of contrasts between seasons. Congratulations barbara ann!
You can start to think about the MSA topic for May / June 2009.

Oh my goodness! Thank you for selecting my Contrast photo winner of the Jan/Feb Contest. With so many excellent entries, I didn't think I had a chance.
But I wish we could enlarge the winning categories to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, so more people could be recognized for the extraordinary work they do. Anyone else agree? Please comment.
Anyway, I will have to get my brain in gear to come up with a topic for May/June...

Hi Barbara Ann
In the jan-feb MSA it was a total of 26 images of which 2 were deleted before the end of the period.

I was organizer/judge for this period and also contributed with 9 of the images. Only 8 other members participated in addition to me.

At the present situation I think appointment of a winner is sufficient, else the same persons will be winning all the time and further reduce the interest for the MSA.
