Monitor calibration troubles

I've got a monitor calibration problem and I'm not sure where to start to try to fix it... My workstation is a mac mini running the latest version of everything. I've got two monitors connect, a Dell U2412M and an HP 23xi. I've attempted to calibrate them using a color munki display, and the whole calibration procedure seems to go fine. But, in the end, the two monitors look very different. The HP has a distinctly reddish cast to it and overall brighter and more saturated. I can't tell which of them (if either) is "right", but I know they can't both be!

Any ideas?

Some monitors just don't calibrate well.

Take a photo of something close by, with a good digital camera. Bring up the photo on both monitors and see which one better reflects the photo you shot. Having the scene close by makes it easier to eyeball.

I used both,Spyder and Color Munki to calibrate monitors but much preferred the Munki.
are you sure you had the Munki flush to the monitors when calibrating.The Munki is very sensitive to stray light coming in from the sides.I'd try again with a very flush setting and if still no good result,email the X-Rite service in Michigan.They helped me a lot when I had initial problems.
