I've had a Polaris meter for quite a while now; it's pretty good, and being able to put on the 5 degree spot is nice. But this thing really frustrates me because it turns itself off after about three minutes to save battery strength. Well, since it uses an AA battery, I'd be pleased to swap a longer on-time for less battery life.

Has anyone ever successfully modded one of these meters to permit longer on-time? I can't imagine it would be that tough, unless it's actually based on programming burned into some controller chip.

Thanks for your thoughts.
