Hi guys!

Two months ago I bought a new Tachihara 4x5" Field camera with Schneider-Kreuznach 5.6/90 Super-Angulon lens. Because of the lens is wide I thought the reflections might be a problem. What kind of lens hood I should use? The decision was Toyo 1660 compendium lens hood. The next problem was how I fix it.

I must made a rail and fix it in the rail. I couldn't do it so my friend did it of brass. I polished, varnished and fixed it in the front frame with four little screws. Lens hood is a little bit modified as You can see. We must made a piece of aluminium to lower lens hood 6 mm. Now it is centralized to lens axis. Is that a correct expression?

Tachihara has no spirit levels. So I fixed Toyo spirit levels in the back frame with two very little ( Fleischmann railroad) screws.

I thought it would be nice if it possible to install folding focusing hood in the back. Once again I thought Toyo may have such a focusing hood. Bingo! My friend made a frame of brass. The frame is installed in the original screw holes and it keeps the ground glass still. So the focusing level is correct.

I put some pictures with so You can see what I and my friend have done.

Now I don't know is my camera Tachihara or "Toyohara"

Hi guys,

here comes some pictures of Tachihara's new back. The frame is made of 1.5 mm thick brass plate. External dimensions of the plate are 148,23 mm width, 113,00 mm height. The highest point is 118.90 mm, the expansions of the brass frame where two Tachihara's springs are fitted. I hope you understand what I mean. Internal dimensions of the plate are 119.95 mm width and 94.95 mm height.

OBS! These dimensions are for Tachihara 45 GF model. If you own one You could make this kind of frame freely after these dimensions. My friend is a retired metalworker who has necessary tools. You cannot make it without necessary tools.

I hope these pictures clarify at least a little.

So, could there be a chance I could have my Tachihara modified to have this back. I think this is a sweet mod.
