Hi,

I've heard that Spotmatics modified to take Rolleiflex 35mm SLR bayonets do exist (and are apparently sought after in Japan).

Has anyone actually seen one or have details on how (or by whom) it was done?

And, no, I find the Spotmatic to be a far better camera than the Rollefilex SL35...

It is an interesting idea...although, I'm not sure what it would buy you...I mean, The S-M-C Takumars are pretty good in their own right. Seems like one might be able to find an adapter ring that would allow a Rollei SLR lens to be fitted to a screw mount camera or, perhaps, the other way around?

I'd be able to use my Rollei-mount Zeiss lenses on a good fully manual body.

There is a good adaptor for using M42 lenses on the Rolleis, so if the mod works, any M42 lens, including the Takumars, would become bayonet-mount ones.

I have hear this is a popular mod in Hong Kong in the 80s, but also I have not seen one for real. Accroding to a seller here, it is done usinf the SP F and have full open aperture metering. I have a rollei mount kicking around somewhere, perhaps I will give this a go when I have time, but before that can happen, I think I will need to get hold of some CNC machine tools.
