Hi, I own a lovely ERKO (there was a url link here which no longer exists) but now I'm looking for a wee bit 'modern' / 'new' 9x12 camera or maybe a bit larger format. The fridge is full with 9x12 film. Any suggestions ?

Easy any modern 5x4 camera with an International back and modern 9x12 DDS (double dark lide) film holders.

9x12 is a Continental Europe format, the UK and North America use 5x4, but the post WWII standard means that film holders have the same outside dimensions.

I think you missed what Ian said. The filmholders for 9x12 and 4x5 and the same external dimensions so the actual camera back will take 4x5 or 9x12 film holders. i.e. there is no special back required for 9x12 on a modern 4x5 camera because its only the internal dimensions of the DDS film holder which are different. You just buy 9x12 DDS film holders and they will work on modern cameras.

And you may want to put a GG on the back which has markings for 9x12 framing or just tape off the edges or just mark the GG yourself.

Some cameras come with backs marked for different formats, 9z12 is almost the same length as 5x4 but a bit narrower, so the screens are marked appropriately, my Wista and my old Cambo anyway also for 6x9 & 6x7.

I shoot both formats, 9x12 currently in pre-WWII German Avus style cameras but want to use the format with my Postcard size Compact Graflex.
