Modern 8x10 Wet Plate Holders?

I believe these are wet plate holders. Can anyone confirm my suspicions?

Dry plate holders usually have 2 darkslides and allow 2 plates which is why these look like they might be for wet plate.

Any chance they are x-ray plate holders of some kind?

I got several of these -- they also make for decent contact printing frames. I thought they were for keeping film perfectly flat during exposure in the camera.

Where did you find them Jon?

They came with an 11x14 Studio Deardorff I puchased. Originally, my most recent research indicates they were used by the Naval Photography school at Pensacola, FL and were sold in the 1970's as surplus.

They may in be dry plate holders. I honestly don't know. They do have one dark slide in each holder and inside the holder is a dense foam. The "dense foam" material are fine and are not crumbling etc.

They definitely would keep the "film" flat. But, are they wet or dry plat holders? I don't think they are x-ray film holders, but I again don't know for certain.

Cool....I love versatility. Although I won't have the time to try them as a wet plate or even a dry plate holder......Too much other stuff on my plate.
