Modern 35mm camera rubber grips.

I have a lovely example of the Minolta Dynax 9 camera and I would like to keep it that way for as long as possible. Does anyone have a suggestion for what to use to keep the rubber grip in good condition. I know Minolta's of this era are notorious for the rubber grips crumbling into pieces.....would rather prevent this if possible. Have thought about using a rubber / vinyl care product for a car but not sure ?

Is it turning gooey and sticky? I've had success scrubbing with a cloth soaked in 90% isopropyl. Takes some work to get the goo removed.

ARMOR-ALL -- great for many other things too, like car tire sides. Just don't use it on motorcycle seats, or you'll slide right off!!!

I have a number of Minoltas with the same material used in the grip, some have already cracked and I have used various resins to repair them, but I don't know any thing that will prevent the eventual deterioration. Maybe an product made for the plastics on cars like Amreral. Apply, let it sit with a coating on, then wipe it off before use. Still might leave feeling slippery.

I bought a 600si for next to nothing because it had thick black tape where the rubber used to be on the grip. I bought a second 600si as a parts camera but with good rubber on the grip. My repairman made the switch. There must have have been very few Dynax/Alpha/Maxxum cameras made. If I had one, I would want to keep it up too.

I would just keep it at room temperature, out of the sun etc. Not sure Armor All is anything but shine juice. I wouldn't put anything on it. I think these are thermoplastic olefins, ie Santoprene.
