Mobile application for film development

Hello all,

I just couple of days ago purchased my first 35mm SLR Canon EOS 500n. Until now I've been shooting EOS 350D, but wanted to shoot film and develop it myself as well next to digital photography.

This is my first message here, but please allow me to notify you of an application I made for java cellphones. The name of the application is FilKe and what it does is functions as a stopwatch for your film development. As a default there are five counters:

Developer
Stop bath
Fixer
Under running sink
Final rinse

Run these counters as you continue your film development, and you will always see precise amount of time for each of these steps.

You can also create other timers if you need new ones with different timings.

The application has been tested on Nokias Series 40 and 60 phones, but it should also work fine on other manufacturers' phones.

I don't use a cellphone, but it looks like a cool idea.

At the workshop I attended last week where we had lots of processes and prints going at once, we needed a lot of timers, so anything that had a stopwatch was pressed into service, including cellphones and iPods.

Nice idea! I don't have a Java phone, but there must be some way to run a Java app on a Pocket PC.

Personal Data Assistant? PDAs are either Palm OS or Windows mobile Pocket PC

I use my Dell Axim (Pocket PC) with a program called Mobile Timer. It is perfect for photography. You can have as many timers as you want, all with different sounds - some timers can loop and other timers can activate the next timer. For film - I have one timer looping to chime every 30 sec and the first timer for development that makes a unique sound and then times a wash period and then another timer for the fix period. By turning off the light on the display it is perfect for timing in tray development of film as well as tank development. I even use it to time exposures in the field.

Similarly, I run FotoTimer on my Treo.

Some smart phones (like the Treo) can also run java apps, but in this case that's redundant
