on the verge of getting an OM1n at a very cheap because the MLU does not work.
is it repairable? is there a way to repair it DIY?
Usually, the MLU doesn't work because someone locked it up by accident, didn't know why the mirror was up, then forced the mirror down with their finger, bending all the internal levers that control mirror lock up. It's really not a do it yourself job, as the body has to be taken apart with the mirror box then separated from the main casting. Body probably also has bad foam around the back cover (check for stickiness around the hinge area). Also, meter accuracy will be suspect unless you use the MR9 battery adapter with 386 silver oxide battery. Mercury batteries are banned, no one makes them anymore, and the 625A or 625U alkaline batteries (which are 1.55V) cause a 3 stop error. If you are interested, please see my OM Repair site
