I mixed this fixer as 1+4 or 500ml of fixer + 2Liters of water. After I use the fixer for the first time, I made the mistake of pouring it out down the drain. Now I am wondering if the fixer that I have left is still good or it lost some of its properties due to the lack of those 300ml that I put down the drain by mistake.

Dear jaimeb82,

No problems. You just have 300ml less fixer available to you.

You're ok jaime, what you've got left will work perfectly well.It makes more sense though to mix it and use it as you need it,leaving the concentrated fixer in the bottle 'til next time.

But using fixer one shot is such a waste. Now, I know that I am not overly experienced and even then I probably could get more life out of the fixer, but if you store carefully, clip test each time you use it, you should get much more life, even un-replenished. As a safe reference point, just download and read the data sheet for the rapid fixer. If you stick to the recommendations, you can't go wrong (you will find, though, that the shelf life will probably be longer!)
