In a couple of months I’ll be doing a road trip from Boston to Minneapolis and back to pick up a 16x20 print washer that’s been waiting patiently for me in a friend’s garage. I figure it’ll be three days of driving in each direction. At the moment I’m planning to go as far as the Buffalo, NY area on the first outbound day, where I can detour slightly to see Letchworth State Park and/or Niagara Falls. I should be able to get to the Chicago area on the next day, and to Minneapolis on the third, and will follow roughly the same route in reverse on my return. To avoid hassles and delays I want to stay in the US, rather than cutting through Canada.

This trip will take me through a lot of areas I’ve only flown over and know little about. What sights would you prioritize for this trip? I don't mind minor detours, but other responsibilities require that I keep this from turning into a multi-week epic. Of course I'll be traveling with photo gear, most likely my Mamiya 7 kit.
