I have had a problem with several blank frames in the middle of the roll? Some times I get 15 shots, sometimes 8-9??? I am thinking it may be a problem with the 120 cartridge???
Are you doing your own processing? I had problems with a lab doing something similar. I thought it was the camera but the problem was replicated on another camera with the same lab.
Without more information it's difficult to speculate but it would appear that the film is advancing if you have images before and after the "missing frames." Are there actual images which are missing or are they appearing farther down the film with a space preceding them? If there are actual scenes which are not appearing despite having been photographed it would suggest a shutter problem - as in unexposed - rather than a problem with the insert.
No flash, yes I process my own film and there are images before and after. And no I didn't leave the lens cap on.
My other thought is that somehow the shutter is not get "cocked" but I hear the Shutter click?
The click may be the mirror... on the other hand it may be that the mirror is not being activated and is thus blocking the image transmission. It has been far too many years since I have worked with the Mamiya 645 for me to guess at what is happening. You should however be able to observe and ascertain what is happening but it sounds as if the problem is not likely the 120 insert.
