Mishap

Had a Holga mishap last night whereby the film (Fuji Pro 160 MF) got jammed while I was loading it. Long story short, I had to manually respool it, but about half the roll got pretty messed up (bent and wrinkled, but not torn). Is it worth shooting, and if so, will I have any trouble getting it professionally processed? Thanks.

I guess I'll take my chances. Dwayne's will be where I send it. Not knowing how they process medium format, I'm just concerned that the condition of the film will cause problems during development.

That's impossible to answer. We don't know how badly your film is mangled. We don't what you are expecting as a result. We also don't know how willing your lab is to do something outside of ordinary.

If you are sending it into have it processed, it's probably the best if you call first and see if they are even willing to process it.

Personally, if there are any doubt as to its integrity, I'd not shoot it. I have several films like that here and they serve as a test roll for various stuff that doesn't require pristine images.

If this happened on anything else, I'd say toss the film and don't worry about it. However, you have a Holga, and you've loaded the film. If, after shooting it, the paper is reasonably tight (like not coming off the spool), just send it in and don't say a word.

Come on, guys, it's a Holga. Plastic lens, light leaks, and all. I bet the film will go through the processing machinery just fine.

Thanks everyone. Indeed, this is a Holga. Nothing critical going on here. I sent a message to Dwayne's this morning and got a response this afternoon. (I guess I should have done this to begin with.) They say they use dip and dunk, and there shouldn't be a problem. I shot the roll tonight -- mostly snapshots. I'll send it in with another roll next week.
