MIR has been up and down recently. Sometimes only certain pages would be inaccessible and sometimes every click would produce an error. Hopefully it's just maintenance.

It would be a pity if that site went down.

The first address for information on certain camera models (as for instance Canon A and T series).

The authors haven't really got an interest in maintaining the site. The analogue camera resource, and everybody would agree it is hugely informative if technically quite deep and a little grammatically akimbo, was a spin-off prior to starting their now quite large and expansive internet company — they are really, really busy people. I worked on the EOS 1N-series resource, moderated the message board and vetted submissions; everything took a long, long time to get done (communication was poor and very untimely). I left years ago (2005 I think) yet I still get message posts directed at me!

I'm considering mirroring it myself. I've seen it go down before and I started getting the bad feelings then.

What does mirroring mean in this context? And does that mean that the content of Mir would be available to you, as an individual, or to others via a website your own/manage?

Mirroring using wget (a unix utility) such that I'd have a local backup in case push came to shove and it needed to be rehosted somehow. I don't trust the Internet Archive because a: it's incredibly slow, b: it's spotty in coverage.
