Just noticed that the Minox shop is now projecting availability of Minocolor 100, Minocolor 400 and Minopan 400 at the end of November:

Dead Link Removed

Won't be cheap, but at least it will exist.

I have some for sale!

They'll charge about $15USD per roll, plus S/H. I currently have 3 rolls of Minopan 100 and 2 of Minopan 400, exp. date of Aug., 2011. Always refrigerated since I bought it several years ago.

Asking $12.50USD per roll, plus S/H.

I am still hoping to see Minox start rolling out film again. I'm beginning to want to think about slitting my own now. I just e-mailed them and inquired as to whether or not film is available and got a response that said that they are aiming to have film again by the end of the summer, but I had already once been told early 2014 so I'm not sure.

I did notice an ePrey vendor subtimes showing a roll of 100 color and some rolls of 400 B&W that are claimed to be "Process by 1/2016" -- maybe something is happening.

As I was looking through the search hits, another vendor had three of the plastic cassettes and one of the rectangular aluminum cases that used to contain two cartridges -- he seems to think we should be elbowing each other out of the way to place an $80 starting bid -- hmm! If I rig up a slitter, I have a few cassettes in hand, but I'm not sure just how much time and energy I want to put into that. The vendor discussed in another thread was talking 30 July -- maybe there's still some hope. Based on ePrey listings, there's a heck of a lot of cameras out there.

I'm still out here waiting for some Mionx film to pop up! haha! I just saw a posting on Blue Moon's website that says that they are entering some sort of agreement with Minox to ensure availability of Minox. It sounds like maybe Blue Moon will be cutting and slitting films?

Thanks for that link and alert. I signed up for an email when things happen.

I also took their survey, but I'm a bit embarrassed that I honestly can't envision using more than three or four Minox cartridges a year. I own a Minox B, bought new in about 1963, and I'd like to see what it might do with some modern films, and using whatever I've learned in my return to the darkroom in recent history. But I've pretty much gone medium format and don't even shoot much 35 mm anymore.

So anyway, we'll see what happens.

After calling Minox, the latest that they told me is that they have agreements with Blue Moon and Blue Moon will be dealing with slitting and rolling the films from here on out. I also found some color and black and white film labeled Sharon/Acmel on eBay, and what is interesting to me is that the little boxes inside say Acmel exactly the shame that the Minox ones say Minox. http://www.ebay.com/itm/SHARAN-Mino...9169383?pt=US_Camera_Film&hash=item339725ce67 I think I'll give them a try. Sort of pricey though. I am hoping that maybe Ferrania will come out with a Minox at some point.

Acmel once made Minox-format cameras too. Their latest model was similar to The Minox EC in some aspect and even got a focusable lens.

Does Acmel still exist? Or are these film cassettes likely old stock? I have seen these cameras around online.

The company still exists, but does not use that brandname any longer.

No, they do not longer offer those films

So I wonder where the fresh dated films are coming from with their name on the cassettes, sort of odd.

Seemingly someone else makes these (as it is done/planned with Minox branded films), and using Acmel branded cassettes for a market where the Acmel cameras are more prominent.

From talking to Minox, it sounds like they don't plan to roll the film themselves going forward- they would send people to Blue Moon. I've thought about going the route of slitting and rolling myself, but not sure yet.

They wre so committed...

I remember reading an official minox proclamation on their website.
They were so commited to the userbase... Their stock would last for years...

Film will be available soon, autumn, december, spring, summer, november, next year.

I guess Walter would be disappointed, so am I.

Best wishes,

Robert

The Acmel film (Fuji 100, so that means Acros? Plus a colour film.) is actually available now isn't it? Just rather expensive from Japan.

The cartridges are supposedly a slightly more robust design than the Minox ones and that same supplier will be the one used for sales from the Minox site, when/if that happens - and a lower price is quoted in the January 2015 announcement.

I've just bought a Minox camera and a few cartridges and am looking at the simplest way to make a film-splitter. That seems to be heading towards laminates of polycarbonate sheet and razor-blades, but a 3D-printed version might not be far off.

The Acmel is expensive, I agree. I would like to have a reliable way of rolling my own Minox without breaking the bank. I have seen some great slitters and brass cartridges made by a fellow over on Photo.net, but they are very expensive too!

Oh, and congrats on your Minox. What model did you get?

I think those machined-steel film-slitters are overkill and unnecessary, unless one is doing it on a commercial basis. The replaceable razorblade design works adequately as I'm using film that was cut like that now. Within a weekend or two I will have my own slitter made on the same sort of design. The developing reel proved relatively easy, as I had an old Jobo reel that was damaged near the centre of the spiral (which isn't touched by Minox films, as they are shorter than 135-36). I removed the spiral from the female part of the reel and glued it in place lower down the central tube, leaving a track height of 10,2mm for the Minox film - that being 9,4mm plus wiggle-room. I bought two EC cameras in a box of stuff, so nothing very high-budget at all

There are Acmel cartridges available from MS-Hobbies at a holiday discount, perhaps because they think they will be massively undercut on price in January?! We can but hope.

It would be great to hear how your film slitter works out and see pictures! Good luck. I am in search of a developing tank, I think I am going to see if I can find a Minox one for not too much money. Hopefully when the film becomes available again, since there is some kind of agreement with Blue Moon, maybe they will sell empty Minox cassettes.
