Minoltaflex Film Counter Issue

Hi,

I have a Minoltaflex that was having an issue with the film counter not resetting fully so I opened the camera to see if I could find out what was going on. As you can see, a previous owner has taken it apart (scratches are not mine) and I'm not 100% sure they didn't mess something up along the way. I can't find any literature on this particular model and I'm starting to think the circled portion originally had a screw to hold it in place. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yes, there should be a screw. Along with serving as an axle for the assembly, the also holds the spring tensioner. The middle section with the little end of spring sticking out it rotates. You tension the spring and then the screw holds it in place. It should be set so that the counter will return to start if released from any amount of rotation.

Most likely the basic the assembly is the same as on Autcoords. Send me a dm and I can send you a screw to try.

Thank you for the information. I couldn't leave it alone and after more tinkering last night, I finally figured out the issue which is exactly what you said. Somehow the previous screw had broken off in the hole and I had to carefully drill it out. I used a screw from the strap bracket/film door holder to see if it still functioned properly and it does.

I appreciate the incredibly generous offer but I don't want to trouble you for one screw. However, do you happen to know where to find screws of this size in bulk? Probably not the last time I'll encounter something like this.

No ready source. Except what you did- other parts of a camera, other cameras, etc.

In case you haven't put the side back on, there is a hole for this screw to protrude through. You might need to open it up a bit if the new head is bigger in diameter.

It seems to fit fine and went in without any resistance. This is a temporary fix until I can find a permanent solution. Thanks again for your help.

Yes, that was me. I did get your email and it was very much appreciated. Your picture led me to think it was the screw but there were a few subtle differences in the models so I wanted to make sure.
