I recently purchased a minolta xg 1 from good will. I purchased batteries for it, and put them in correctly, however the shutter is not firing, there are no leds, and the advance film lever is not moving. the advance film lever moved once previously even with the dead batteries, but just that once. Is there anything i can do to fix it?

Edit: I fixed it turns out i did have the batteries in wrong and my boyfriend is much smarter than I

Sadly it may be that your XG1 has just about expired. One thing though, did you fit the batteries the correct way. If they are fitted incorrectly then it will give the symptoms you describe. In the battery compartment there are markings to show which way the polarity has to go with both batteries the same way.

Hi,
Clean your battery contacts and try fresh batteries. Those bodies have a history of poor contacts under the shutter speed dial. Try taking it a click or two off the "A" position or one of the manual speeds and give it a try. If that is no help there is little you can do other than saving the lens and buying another body (it does not pay to have it repaired). I'd suggest a XD11 instead.

Hi,
I forgot, I think that camera has a battery check position on the on/off switch (BC), your self timer light should turn on.
best of luck,
