I've just run across a Minolta SRT101 -- in great shape, except that the meter is off, by about 5 f-stops (just a guess). Before I dig out my SRT repair guide, is this an easy repair? I've never needed to do that before -- since the SRTs are built like tanks!!!
I know, it's probably already been discussed here a million time, and I'll do a SEARCH after lunch.
Looks like only one of the trimmers is for the adjustement, with the other, maybe only for the battery-check circuit.
5 stops off is pretty bad, however, I did just repair a Gossen that was about 4 stops off. That Gossen circuit also had only a single trimmer. In the case of my Gossen, howerver, there was some oxidation on the trimmer, and with some DeOxit, I got it working correctly again.
I have had a Gossen light meter for Bolex for a while, but the one I have is missing the trim screw and the protective clear plastic over the dial. It is also the older model with a smaller lens on the front. Also, it was missing the incident light diffuser. I recently found a newer version...
While the meter is adjustable, five stops is not an adjustment issue. What generally happens on the SRT series is that the cement that holds the photocell prisms to the main prism gets yellowed and/or the photocell prism breaks away from the main prism. Solution is to clean off the yellowed cement and re-cement the photocell prisms. This will fix things assuming that the photocells are in good shape.
