Minolta SRT-101B: Flimsy advance lever

After Konica T3's for a while I thought I would give the Minolta 101 a try. The advance lever on the T3's are butterly smooth, on the 101 not so much. It doesn't run smooth and feels a bit flimsy. I've taken off the top and bottom cover off and lubed the cogs which are turning while advancing the lever. It helped a bit. Is the advance lever on the 101b not smoother than this or can I do something else? The camera also makes a "squeeky" sound while advancing the lever - I haven't managed to fix that either. I think it is related to the spools which hold the shutter cloth.

yep, time for an overhaul. no doubt there are several places that would love a careful cleaning and a tiny drop of fresh Nyloil.

The "David Lyga" approach would be to remove both the top cover and bottom cover. Then I would tilt the body so that the take up spool area is slightly lower than the film cassette side. Then I would squirt lighter fluid into the top of the lower side (so that NONE of the fluid gets into the prism area). Doing this should allow a lot of black crud to flow from the bottom and possibly clean everything out. - David Lyga

and then dissemble and clean the camera, being careful that any trace of the lighter fluid is removed before it can rot the shutter curtain?
Lighter fluid will not 'rot' the shutter curtain. It simply dries and leaves no residue. - David Lyga
