Like it reads: Minolta SRT 101: How Can I tell If the Meter's Battery Is Fully Functional?

First post edited, because people who use cel phones to access Photrio may not see thread titles the same way that those of us who use bigger screens do.

There is a BC "Battery Check" setting on the meter switch on the bottom. If the battery AND meter are working OK, the needle moves to the small black spot in the viewfinder. If not, either the battery is dead or the meter is malfunctioning -- or BOTH.

Here is a visual aid which is sometimes helpful.

Ah, so that's what that "BC" means. 'Never knew up until now after three years using my SRT (after almost forty with my X700's), nor ever bothered to find out. I hope I'm NOT nominated for Photrio's idiot question/post of the year for this.
Anyhow, my needle rests just a tad above the black 'spot' - the 'square' in between the two triangles, so I guess it's time for a new bat.

If it's just a "tad" that's probably OK. The fact that it moves is a good sign -- but it would be a good idea to get a manual. They are free, on-line. You might be missing out on other features you don't know about.

I didn't know we even had such an award!
There is absolutely nothing idiotic about asking a question that is both of some importance to you, and for which you don't have reason to know the answer!

The X700 works different, it just doesn't light up the LEDs if the battery is low, there is no specific battery check button like on the SRT...

Just making fun of myself.
