From our previous threads and discussions, I conclude that the Minolta 7000 AF clearly offers the best chances when it comes to repairs.
The 9000 AF has more weak points, is more complex in its construction and the technical documentation is limited to the service manual.
Here is a comparison.
Minolta (Maxxum, Alpha) 7000 AF
Minolta (Maxxum, Alpha) 9000 AF
It would also be interesting to compare it with the Minolta (Maxxum, Alpha) 5000 AF, its little sister.
Conclusion
If you are interested in repairing the first SLR on the market with integrated AF and a large range of system accessories, the 7000 is a good choice. It also offers the opportunity to understand individual technical aspects thanks to the excellent documentation.
The electronics of both the 7000 and 9000 offer some options for repairs and the housings are screwed together rather than clipped together for easy maintenance.

Here is a comparison.
Minolta (Maxxum, Alpha) 7000 AF
- One known weak point: malfunctioning aperture magnet, repairable by cleaning or replacing, shortcut possible.
- Tutorial for removing the mirror box available.
- Unlimited spare parts due to low prices and a large supply of defective 7000.
- Technical documentation complete (service manual, SPT Journal, C & C Troubleshooting Guide).
Minolta (Maxxum, Alpha) 9000 AF
- Four known weak points: sticky shutter, faulty aperture control, blockage in the mechanism, misaligned main mirror. The first three problems can only be solved by removing the mirror box. The shutter must be disassembled for cleaning.
- There is no tutorial available for removing the mirror box.
- Spare parts from defective 9000 available, prices high.
- Technical documentation limited to the service manual, good user guidance.
It would also be interesting to compare it with the Minolta (Maxxum, Alpha) 5000 AF, its little sister.
