I have just purchased this camera. It's in great condition but the focus screen is taped in. Would anyone know where to find a new screen?

What do you mean, taped in?

The glass screen sits on a metal rim, with the smooth side up and the ground side down. Then a plastic fresnel screen is below that, with the ridges facing the ground glass surface. This is held in place by clips at the front and back sides.

If the basic frame is there but the clips are missing, it'd be a good time to get an Oleson screen and ask them about replacement clips. Or if the original screen pieces are good but no clips, you can send a DM to me and I can get you some clips.

Photo maybe?

What do I mean taped in? Let's see, how can I elaborate upon that? There is tape along all edges of the focus screen adhering it to the focus screen frame. There, is that more clear?

Nope. Where is the tape? What part of the frame is the screen sitting against, top or bottom? Where is the fresnel screen in reference to the ground glass and in reference to the frame?

Well, I was trying to help you clarify the issues that would let you get a screen in place with proper clips, etc. There's a reason that tape was used, and the odds are that it points to other problems. Good luck.

LOL Nothing like being snippy with someone who is trying to help you figure out a problem. Very helpful, that.
How about including a photo??

I was not being "snippy", I was pointing out that taped in means taped in and it did not require further explanation.

Hey Dan Daniel, I'm not sure that I ever thanked you for overhauling my Minolta Autocord last year... so thank you for all the work you put into it. Works like a charm now!

In bold…snippy.

Hey, uh.... the internet is a strange place and it's hard to really know how people read what you write, or how you read what others write. etc. anthonym3 wasn't helped by the remarks after the first one pointing him to an Oleson screen, such is life. I bet we all have other things to do

yurihuta, nice to hear! Great cameras.

Hi there - my autocord is back focusing by about 2 feet . If my camera is missing the clips would that explain the focus misalignment?

I think they are missing - it’s been a while since I looked

Any thoughts on where I can get new clips?

Thank you

Rupert
