Hi, i just thought I'd post this for all the other novice "repair men" out there, I purchased a non working minolta autocord (sold in "good condition, i dont know anything about cameras though, as is, no returns"...lol) with a seikosha-mx shutter.
After freeing up the shutter, the B mode worked only at about 1/60th of a second and wouldnt hold open. After a reasonably straight forward disassembly i got the shutter open and after a long hour of trial and error i found the problem.

the glowing red screw was very tight and the movement underneath it was stuck fast. A touch of Naptha and skerrick of silicone lube got it moving freely and voila! B mode now works fine..

The screw driver is touching the high speed spring and as far as i can tell its meant to be loose unless 1/500th is engaged.

Thanks for sharing!
What do you mean "freeing up the shutter"? Do you mean dismounting until you reach it?

Sorry about the long time in responding i didnt get a notification of a reply! I bathed the shutter leaves in lighter fluid to remove what seemed to be about 400 years worth of tobacco residue etc..
