Hi,

I have a minolta 7000 and was wondering if it was normal for the focusing motor to turn (it buzzes like it does in auto focus) when the camera is set to manual focus, also it seems that there is a safety feature which stops you taking pictures that are out of focus is there a way to bypass this.

any help would be appreciated

It doesn't sound like your camera is working properly. My 7000 does not make any motor noise when focusing in manual mode. Nor does it stop me from shooting when out of focus in manual mode. It sounds like the switch between manual and auto is sticking in the auto mode.

The good news is that 7000's are dirt cheap on ebay now so you could pick up another body easily. I paid $60.00 for mine last year.

Solved it !!!

The switch was sticky, I just moved it up and down a few times and it now works.

Thanks !
