Where is this... I'm gonna be visiting my folks in Indiana.... I'll probably make my way up to Chicago and would like to see the work of the man who sold me my gowland pocket view

The Harold Washington Library is at 400 S. State Street in downtown Chicago. It's at the corner of State and Congress Parkway and is easily accessible by public transportationthe El has a stop there. If you wish to drive there are parking lots, and if you are lucky you might find on-street parking. I hope you make it!
