Microclicks seems kinda weird to me.....but it's just another technique. The left and right edges get far less exposure than the middle of the frame, thus lower density.
I did some holgaramas 15ish years ago and they turned out pretty good. I wish I had the files handy to post them. Using a 6x6 mask or making the 6x6 mask if you have old holgas like me, set the red window to 16. Overlap frames by about a third. I used three frames. 2 is ok, 4 doesn't align as well as 3 and I couldn't fit them on my scanner. 400 speed film is fine - I used XP2 at the time.
