Not a book "About Photography" per se, but it has a lot of great photos.
It documents one of Hollywood's most extensive backlots, during and after the golden age of Hollywood.

Like so many of the worlds "Greatest Times" the Hollywood studio system was really not around that long.
When you look at so many of these great events, the iconic notion of them that still purvey our minds today, only lasted a few decades.

The wild west
Rock & Roll
Sports car racing
Baseball as Americas favorite pastime
Train travel in the usa
"Detroit"
Route 66
Americas middle class
Atlantic Ocean Liners
Etc etc etc

Ha! I have this book. If you are into movies, and I was for a long time, it has a wonderful description with photos I have never seen before of the inner workings of this studio in their “golden age.” Hollywood is terrible at preserving it’s own history. Debbie Reynolds put a fortune into trying to save significant memorabilia she ultimately was forced to put her collection up for auction because of insufficient industry support for the project. It will be interesting to see what the new Academy museum turns out to be. And about George Lucas’ museum going up in Exposition Park? Looking forward to these projects.

Yeah, it was a Fascinating Account.
Irving Thalberg was such a sad story.
Mayer was great at his job, but you are happy to see guys like that kick the can..........like Ava Gardner said, she never liked the guy.
