?: MG IV FB WARM / MG FB WARM

Does anybody know the difference between Fiver based MG IV WT and MG WT? Both offer a choice in surfaces, and MG IV is priced a little higher.

I know MG IV has a paper speed of P500 and MG WT P200 but outside of printing times is there a difference in base tone or contrast or dMax or anything?

Bruce, I wasnt aware there were 2 different FB warmtone papers. You may just have some old and new stock...

Both B&H and Adorama list it on their web sites and I have seen both in each store and Ilford shows both on their web site.

The MG IV is packaged in the traditional white box while the MG WARMTONE is boxed in a brown box.

The brown box can had in either Glossy or SemiMatt. I'm not sure what surfaces the IV can be bought in.

The Ilford Product Availability List (link to the PAL's PDF at: http://www.ilfordphoto.com/products/page.asp?n=11) only lists one type of Warmtone paper: MGIV WT in RC and fibre versions (MGIV-RC WT and MGIV-FB WT).

Is there a typo in the first line of your post and you are asking for comparisons between normal MGIV (which comes in a white box and is ISO P500) and MGIV Warmtone (brown box, P200)?

If so, apart from the obvious differences in the emulsions, the Warmtone has a slightly off-white/cream base compared to the brilliant white of standard MGIV. I've not run a densitometer over the Warmtone so can't say re' Dmax but I expect Dmin will not be as good because of the paper base tone (it's nowhere near as creamy as the Kentmere Warmtone paper however).

Thanks Bob, but my Brown Box says "Ilford MGFB Warmtone" and the link you provide also show two boxes of VC Fiber papers: MG IV FB Matt and Glossy (White Box) and MG Warmtone Semi Matt and Glossy (Brown Box).
I think my error was thinking MGIV FB was offered as a warmtone paper and according to the Ilford site it makes no promise of being warm.
So bottom line is Ilford only makes one warmtone paper and it comes in a brown box.
My error and thank you for helping see it.
