I scanned some XP2 35mm on a borrowed Konica 5400 11. I like the results.
Would I be able to get equivalent quality from 6 x 6 MF XP2 using a flat bed scanner and if so what models would do it?

I ask because I have a decent printer and digital camera but lots of negatives that I should like to work on for digital output in the future rather than keeping a wet darkroom.

Cheers

Considering the larger film size I believe you would be able to get about the same quality scanning a MF negative with a flatbed scanner such as the Epson 4990, V700 or V750.

The flatbed will not pull all of the detail from your MF negative, far from it, but results will probably be acceptable up to about 11X14 in size.

Jeff,

If you can find one, I would reccomend the Minolta Dimage Scan Multi PRO medium format scanner. It will easily out perform any of the flatbed scanner that Epson makes. Unfortunately this scanner isn't made any longer so you will need to find a used one. Short of that a Nikon 9000 is a safe bet.
