I’m looking for a lens flange for a meter optik 360 mm f4.5. Looks like 95mm. Measures 3.740 inches. Anyone know the size and thread or anywhere I can access one?

The safest thing to do is have it measured with a metric threading gage. The most common metric thread pitch for a 95 mm diameter lens-mount thread is 1.00 mm. Other pitches are possible, such as 0.75 mm. A metric thread gauge should identify the pitch.

3.740” = 95.0 mm, so the estimate of a 95 mm diameter is about right. It’s bothersome that the diameter is nearly exact. In almost all cases, the actual male OD is ever so slightly smaller, and the female OD larger, than the nominal size. This is for the necessary assembly clearance between the male and female threads.

I expect that a 95 mm male thread would measure something like 0.005” (0.12 mm) smaller than the nominal diameter. So, a diameter measurement of about 3.735” (94.87 mm) is expected for the male part.

I learned long ago the problem of buying a lens minus its mounting flange. I had one machined by S.K. Grimes. My policy thereafter is: Don’t buy any lens without its flange or retaining ring.

There are a number of flanges listed in the following link, but nothing that large. If you can’t find one, then a custom fabrication might be the solution.

I've bought his #00 to #0 adapter, and it was well made.

But don't most cities have good machinists? A lens flange would be a simple job. Show how it should look like and let him measure the thread and choose the proper material.

not all. All the machinists in my city are all about autos. I've asked about simple cutting holes in lens board that weren't standard size (0, 1, 3), and they wouldn't do it.

This is a simple piece to make with some basic equipment. I’m trying to find a hobbyist or school to do it but that is harder than it sounds. Not worth many peoples time and be cheaper to get the above mentioned people to do it. There is some question as to the correct measurement. I’m guessing it’s metric but not positive.
