I just got one of these flashes and think I have all of the controls figured out except for the red LED just above the "flash ready" neon on the rear of the unit. Is this LED the same as the "exposure OK" LED on the CL4?

If I press the test fire button and the red LED comes on briefly, does this mean that the settings on the flash and camera will give an adequate exposure?

Thanks,
Rob

Yes Rob the red L.E.D. should come on briefly on the auto setting to indicate correct exposure but not on manual, if you look on the Metz website you can download the 45 CL4 instruction book Dead Link Removed
I've had 2 of these flashes for many years and they are real quality, powerful and reliable.

Thanks for the confirmation. I did look at the CL4 manual and just wanted to confirm similar operation. I did some experiments last night, set the flash up in a manner that I would expect the exposure to not be sufficient, and the Light did not come on as expected. It did come on when I set it up normally.

FYI, the Metz UK site seems to have more manuals than the US or Germany site.
