Metering slide film +2 and -2 over and under midtone.

In the case of Pentax, their "digital" meter just meant it had an LED readout rather than a moving needle. Old-school itself, and no relation to current
geek lingo.

I shot a lot of transparency film for commercial clients and hated the limited latitude. I used Polaroid to proof 4x5 chromes. Even in the studio, I had to gobo off hot highlights and use fill cards for shadows. I would always shoot multiple sheets. I'd process a test sheet and push or pull the remaining accordingly. With roll film, bracketing was the trick. Another trick with roll E-6 film was doing a lead or tail snip then push or pull from the snip test. Those days are long gone.

Even though I still have a few token boxes of my favorite 8x10 chrome film still in the freezer, this all died for me when the Cibachrome era ended.
Scanning and digit output just ain't the same thing. I've moved on to Ektar printed onto Fuji RA4 papers, including Supergloss, a reasonable combination replacement for tranny film and Ciba, yet with a tad more latitude. The really wide latitude Portra etc films just don't have the correct
color response for my needs.
