since they offer specialized backs for selected camera's I imagine that the film has some sort of unique characteristic which would make a "roll-and-go approach" probably not feasible. looks like it would cost you $20 to find out....
I learned that as I use each new item, camera, film, developer, paper, etc. that i needed to expose the film, develop that roll, then print... to make the needed corrections and adjustment for the new materials. Someone also advised me to stick with one film, one developer, one paper. 2 lessons that I found very worthwhile!
Heyo,
Wasn't really sure where to post this, but I am looking at their 65mm Film Campaign (https://mercuryworks.store/collections/imax-film-campaign) I have a Mamiya C330s and wanted to see how difficult it would actually be to roll it myself without a darkroom. I am seeing that it is borderline impossible. Can I not just roll it one some 120 spools and call it a day? Just wanted to check before I pull the trigger on getting some. And if I can't roll this myself is there somewhere or someone I could send it to that could do it for me?
And if you have seen my other post from last week, Im still working on getting my film developed. I sweat a lot and got a bunch on the camera, was wiping it off all the time so I hope it doesn't mess it up. Also I basically shot film all day, was having too much fun and barely got my digital out the whole time.
Thanks for all the help and tips everyone.
Unfortunately you can’t simply roll the film onto a 120 spool with paper, it’s a bit more complicated than that. You need to trim off about 2mm off each side and then tape to paper in a very specific spot. I have a tutorial thread for this process in my signature if you’re interested.
I was selling pre-made 120/220, but unfortunately I can’t make any more as my 100 ft roll is maxed out.
Hopefully this answers your question about the film.
Your tutorial was actually one of the first ones I saw when I looked at this. Looks like a task I could do, but I have no dark room. If I do decide to get some would you be able to roll it for me? I dont mind paying for your services? Thanks
If you did get some, I’d be happy to help out. But I think it’s a bit late now. Orders for the film are closing really soon, today was the last day to order. Maybe next time.
Dang, I see what you mean. Yep maybe next time I see something. If I do ill send you a message.
If you do want some, maybe you could email and ask very nicely if he can set you up with a roll if they have some film left over.
Yeah, Maybe
Do let me know if you want to pursue this, I have been talking with him about some stuff, so I’m more than happy to ask on your behalf.
Oh nooo, I’m sorry to hear that. Hope you get better soon.I would love to, but managed to get into a accident on Friday and now its going to have to wait for me. Maybe someone will have some up for sale in the future.
