I'm about ready to pull the trigger, and buy a Nikon F Photomic FTn. I'm somewhat of a stickler for voltage, and I'm aware that the difference between the mercury cell 1.35v and silver/alkeline 1.5v is only 11%. However, on my Canon original F-1, I installed an MR-9 adapter, and I'm quite satisfied.

Since the Nikon F Photomic FTn calls for the PX-13 (or PX625) x 2. The question becomes do I purchase (2) MR-9 adapters?

I would use Wein cells. That's what my father uses in his Nikormat FTn, and they work great.
Wein cells are expensive.

PX 675 zinc-air hearing aid cells are much less expensive. Both need sleeves -- I just roll a scrap of paper around the cells before putting them in my Lunasix 3 -- to fit where PX 13s used to live. People used to sell nicer sleeves on eBay, but I haven't looked for 'em for years. I've never tried it, but opening the tab to uncover only one air hole is supposed to extend cell life considerably.

I just ordered 4 of the brass PX 675 to PX13 form factor adapters on Ebay for $9 shipped from China. It will take a month or so to arrive, but I'm OK with that!

Of course you can use paper or go to a hardware store that sells "O" rings and find some that will fit around the battery if you like. I have done all of the above, but wanted the simplicity of just dropping them in a holder.

YMMV...

Jon Goodman sells those PX 675 to PX13 adapters for a very reasonable amount.
And the PX 675 hearing aid batteries are both easily found and relatively inexpensive.

Darn. Had I known Jon sold them, I would have bought from him!
I have bought multiple sets of camera refoaming kits from him and have always been pleased with their quality and how fast he ships!
