Hi,

I recently got hold of an Opemus 6 with a Meopta Color 3 head. The color head has a light mixing chamber which also came with the enlarger. However, as far as I know, there a three types of mixing chambers for negative sizes from 35mm to 6x9. The problem is that I've no idea which type of mixing chamber is attached to my head. I can exclude the 6x9 but the 35mm and 6x6 chambers look identically.

Does anyone have a clue how I could identify the mixing chamber? There's no serial number or anything like this on the chamber.

If I have (or buy) the 6x6 chamber, will it work for 35mm also?

Thanks and Regards,
Stefan

The 36x24 chamber is recognizable by matted translucent cover with clear rectangular in the center. The size is the same as 6x6.

6x6 chamber output is good enough for 35mm and up to 10x enlarge ratios. For larger prints you may consider more concentrated light output the 35mm chamber gives.

Thanks very much for the information. My chamber has a matted cover but no clear rectangular in the center, so from palec's description it should be the 6x6 which is fine because I'd like to do both, 6x6 and 35mm. With 35mm I usually don't go larger than 24x30cm, so the chamber should be ok for both formats. I also read some rumors about the enlarger producing too much light so the exposure times become too short. If this is true, the 6x6 chamber might yield longer exposure times for 35mm.
