I acquired very cheaply a Meograde variable contrast head minus transformer and mixing chamber. The latter is no problem to acquire but original transformer is expensive if available at all - what could be modified? 12 volts and 100 Watts requires about 8 amps...
It's just a halogen lamp at a standard voltage. Ask your local lighting shop for the sort of transformer used for shop-lighting systems and household halogen lamps, but confirm that it will switch on and off quickly (describe the use it will get with the enlarger-timer).
For the mixing-chamber you could enquire at Fotoimpex. A couple of years ago I got some Meopta spares from them and they had quite a stock.
Did a bit of research and indeed suitable transformers can be had readily and Fotoimpex has mixing chambers.
Has anyone experience with this Meograde head - will it shed more light to my negs than condenser and opal lamp?
