Hi all,
I'm putting an order in with Freestyle some time within the next week or so and was wondering if anyone needed anything? I'm happy to do the ordering and deliver to Frankston, Flinders Street Station, Melbourne or Queenscliff depending on your location.

I'd like to have my order in next Friday (13th... it's my lucky day! ) at the latest, but it's no real drama to hold out a little longer if more time is needed to organise shopping lists and money.

Cheers,
Molli

I'm not in any particular rush, guys. I've been putting off doing an order for months and mostly just need to get my 120 negatives into some Printfile sleeves and out of the plastic document sleeves they're currently residing in.

So, just let me know what you're after and we'll work out the logistics from there.

Oh, and James, I'm happy to find a halfway point to get anything you want to you. I'm thinking Berwick, perhaps, but if there's somewhere more convenient for you, just yell! I'm down on the Mornington Peninsula so I just rattled off a list of places that public transport will take me (without me getting lost amongst the highways and byways of the cities!)

How does the price for the 120 sleeves at Vanbar compare to importing them? I use them, and find them okay.

My Velvia stocks are okay at the moment, but I'll add some if it helps your costs.

A 100 pack of sleeves for medium format is $98.63 at Vanbar. They're $22.99 at Freestyle and they're a) Printfile and b) I can get them in three strips of four. Neither of those things are the case with the Vanbar ones. I think B&H has them a little cheaper, but the shipping wound up being more and they didn't stock the paper I wanted, so Freestyle it is

As for helping me out with costs, right now I can keep my order under $150 by a whopping 45c! That means I can use FIMS which is about $40 cheaper for shipping. Keeping it under that limit, however, meant ordering less than I really want to. I'd rather try and get as much as I can afford at one time so I don't have to do this again for a while! Of course, an endless supply of affordable paper would be brilliant, but it's not going to happen.

That being said, if no one needs anything, I'll just stick to my slightly slimmed down order. I just thought they're might be others about who might want to try and get some materials with a somewhat defrayed shipping cost

Added: I just saw the V-Tec 120 Sleeves (4 strips of 3 frames) $9.90 for a 25pk. So, just under forty dollars for 100. Not bad at all... just not quite the format I'm after this time around.

Thanks, Shane, that's not off topic for me at all! Any source of darkroom goodies that I can get locally without having to sell a kidney is wonderful to know about! I actually bought some paper off them last year via their ebay store when they had a bit of a clearance. They were really lovely to deal with and very helpful in terms of posting things to me which were listed as pick up only.

98.63 AUD for SLEEVES?!?! That is straight up robbery.

Nah, robbery is when Adorama wants $138 to ship me a $13 packet of 25 sleeves

But you can see, now, why we have a bit of a whinge about prices of things over here, yes?

Michaels has archival packs of 25 120 sleeves made by Albox Australia for $26 (among other sizes they have).
I wouldn't be too pedantic about PrintFile; I have experienced their sleeves coming apart at the welds over time — it's a name I avoid, unfortunately.
So long as the manufacturers has passed the PAT for archival-quality sleeves you can buy whatever is available. But not Chinese-made stuff.

I'll shout you that one, Shane

If I can find my old HAMA film-leader retriever it's yours! Silly bloody thing. Try a piece of masking tape attached to the tip of a knife to retrieve leader. It's what I have used, albeit not often (1N leaves leader out, as all obedient cameras should!)

So $96 for 100? Again, not going to happen. I'm not overly hung up on PrintFile, it's just that, thus far, they're the only company I've found which sell them to store three strips of four. Apparently I'm a rarity in cutting my 120 this way; it just seemed logical to me at the time  If I didn't have a backlog of around forty rolls of film already cut like this which need storing properly, I'd change what I'm doing but, until they're stored 3 strips of 4 it is.

The couple of times I've needed to fish out the leader, I've just used another strip of 35mm film. Feed it in and then quickly pull it back out. Works like a charm.
However, if Shane would like a whizz bang bit of official gadgetry to make life easier for him, I'm happy to get it for him as an early Christmas present

BTW guys when it comes to sleeves, I highly recommend polyester fold-flap sleeves combined with Printfile Ultima album pages. These are by far the best archival material and they seriously avoid scratches to your film because there is no sliding of film against sleeve material.

Hi Marc, that's perfectly fine! Are you sure you're not needing anything else? Right now, your order comes in well under the FIMS limit and is only $51 for shipping

By the way, does anyone know what happens if you order something that's out of stock? The paper I wanted has run out and now isn't due until the end of November. If I go ahead and order it, will I just get the first part of my order straight away and they'll send along the other stuff when it comes in? Or will I wind up paying for two separate lots of shipping?

Hi Molli, if its not too much, I wouldn't mind 10 rolls of Arista Premium.
http://www.freestylephoto.biz/10358...ack-Kit-Includes-10-rolls-Arista-Premium-Film

I'm happy to pick up from you when I get a chance.

Apologies for taking a couple of days to get back to you. I'm more than happy to add your film into the order. I'm also perfectly happy to at least meet you halfway for delivery. Of course, if you're wanting a trek down to the Peninsula, you're more than welcome

Anyone else? So far, all of our orders, individually, come in under the FIMS limit and don't work out much cheaper combining them. Ordered individually, you'd at least have them delivered directly to you rather than having me getting them to you (something that definitely does NOT fall into the plus column of the equation!)
