Armed with a Mamiya C330f TLR, a Mamiya 645 1000s and a Chamonix 45F1 with a 6x12 back, I spent the day in the company of a new friend and fellow film nut, Mike Langdon.
Everything was on Ektar 100, except where stated.
Dawn at Emsworthy Barn, nice subtle colours and render - Mamiya 645 1000s and 55mm f2.8
Venford Falls, with the Chamonix 45F1 and a 90mm lens on Portra 160
Looking like an old 70's Guide to Dartmoor - Widecombe in the Moor - Mamiya 645 1000s and 80mm f1.9
I had to add a lot of contrast to this as the dynamic range of Ektar is massive - Mamiya 645 1000s and 150mm f2.8 - its a very good lens and new to me.
This was not really a photograph but a dynamic range and hyperlocal distance test, which worked well on the 80mm f1.9. The lens scales are fairly accurate in the digital world and got all the depth of field, if a little front focused which I didn't mind. Mamiya 645 1000s and 80mm f1.9 (at f22)
Pretty much the same settings again... I do like this shot for some strange reason.
On reflection, I am not sure Ektar suits what I was doing to be honest. I am going to try a Portra 160 splurge next time, but the main thing is the lenses and technical capabilities of the camera, from a personal perspective, are now getting thoroughly understood.
If only the same thing could be said for the scanning world...!
Any comments or critiques most welcome. I am here to learn.
