Armed with a Mamiya C330f TLR, a Mamiya 645 1000s and a Chamonix 45F1 with a 6x12 back, I spent the day in the company of a new friend and fellow film nut, Mike Langdon.

Everything was on Ektar 100, except where stated.

Dawn at Emsworthy Barn, nice subtle colours and render - Mamiya 645 1000s and 55mm f2.8

Venford Falls, with the Chamonix 45F1 and a 90mm lens on Portra 160

Looking like an old 70's Guide to Dartmoor - Widecombe in the Moor - Mamiya 645 1000s and 80mm f1.9

I had to add a lot of contrast to this as the dynamic range of Ektar is massive - Mamiya 645 1000s and 150mm f2.8 - its a very good lens and new to me.

This was not really a photograph but a dynamic range and hyperlocal distance test, which worked well on the 80mm f1.9. The lens scales are fairly accurate in the digital world and got all the depth of field, if a little front focused which I didn't mind. Mamiya 645 1000s and 80mm f1.9 (at f22)

Pretty much the same settings again... I do like this shot for some strange reason.

On reflection, I am not sure Ektar suits what I was doing to be honest. I am going to try a Portra 160 splurge next time, but the main thing is the lenses and technical capabilities of the camera, from a personal perspective, are now getting thoroughly understood.

If only the same thing could be said for the scanning world...!

Any comments or critiques most welcome. I am here to learn.

The greens are, well, green! My favorite shot by far is the waterfall, although I love the last shot as well. Might be a good idea to come back w/ the camera and a chainsaw or axe for that dead limb that runs across the waterfall pic. Safety hazard, if anyone asks :} Besides, no one will argue w/ a man that has a chainsaw or an axe in their hand.

Wow...color.!
The water scene is very nice.
The first pic damn near looks like a painting...a postcard...a still from a movie...it looks like a plce you want to walk into and stay for a while.
I need to get a MF camera some day.

I'd say you had a very good day! All are nice.

Did you take any with the C330f? I just bought a C220 and was just wondering.

I went right off Dartmoor in the military as a young marine recruit ( however beautiful in your pictures ) after a 30 mile speed march that had to be completed in eight hours in lousey weather carrying a 56 lb pack and a rifle, if I never see it again it'll be too seen.

I haven't had a chance to scan them yet, but I'll post a Part 2 as I do them, most likely next week. C330f is a great camera, sure the 220 is too

Love them all !!
Great results with Ektar100 - I think my overall favorite is the first one.
Nice to see other people on APUG using colour film ...
I really like those Ektar colours, though I can cope better with Portra160.

I look forward to seeing them, David!

I've shot a bunch of medium format cameras. I've owned 645, 6x6 and 6x7. The C220 is my first TLR, however. I've got the 105mm DS lens for it so far.
