Hi,
I am thinking of changing the GG on my 4x5 camera and I was wondering if someone can help me with the exact measurement of the Ground Glass of a Shen-Hao HZX45-IIA.
Thank you
Jacques

127.8mm by 101.4mm but realistically there are tolerances that are within .05 mm here as we are talking natural movement with the wood so you need a little play.

My groundglass, which as far as I know, is factory OEM is ever so slightly short on one ¼ of the long side as it's not exactly 100% square sided, if you get my drift.

You could probably pull around 1mm back from those measurements and still have a very good fitting GG.

Mick.

Jacques, I just wondered if you are requiring a new GG, why don't you just measure your own camera?

Jacques - when I used to have a Shen-Hao HZX-45 AII, I swapped the factory ground glass for the ground glass and fresnel of a Canham 4x5 Wood Field. While the Shen-Hao may not have been made to that exact specification, the Canham ground glass/fresnel fit perfectly and I never had an out-of-focus image due to using that combination on my Shen-Hao.

Mick.

I have measure it with a simple ruler and the measurements that I have are approximately 127mm by 101mm. I wish I had a precision tool to measure it.

The dimensions 101 x 127.5. All dimensions given in millimeters and precisely
taken with machinist caliper.
The 0.5 millimeters gap from both sides between the wooden housing and the glass
already taken in the account.
