By the looks of it anyone who has a basic understanding of camera mechanics and a few basic tools.
Ive replaced prisms in Nikon cameras and they have been very easy to do so far. Prism has probably just been jarred loose and just needs resetting
Thanks...the prism itself appears to suffer, not just the mounting. Might try your instructions tho I'd prefer to pay somebody as I'm buried in projects...
Pentaxs.com Eric Hendrickson seems to be the guy. I used him once for a SP500 that was jammed. Inexpensive, great turn around time. That was a couple or 3 years ago.
+1 for Eric Hendrickson. He completely overhauled 2 bodies for me about a year and a half ago. Good communication, fast turnaround, VERY reasonable prices and the work was perfect.
For Pentax, Eric's the guy. Hands down.
Eric Henderson responded almost immediately to my query. I plan to send him my Black as well as a donor...
It was suggested that the Black's prism could be re-silvered...that would be better than offing the donor except that most silver Pentaxes are worth nearly zero so no loss.
Another positive recommendation for Mr. Eric Hendrickson. He overhauled my wife's 1971 Spotmatic, and it works very well. He asked about voltage of the batteries, but we have spare mercury batteries for the meter, so we left it at 1.35V.
