Maybe Santa will put this under your tree?

So should I trade in my 12mm CV?

Noel

I.M.O. a lens of this type is of very limited use for general photography especially considering it's cost, if I needed something like this for a special project I would hire one.

Rockwell called the holy grail. So what! I call it no big deal.

I'll shoot a 47mm SAXL on 4x5 or 38mm SAXL on 6x12cm for far less lens cost and with far better large print quality.

Very true

With a lens of such a short focal length there's virtually no need to focus

If you look at the picture with the DOF scale, at f/22, you'll get focus behind the first lens element and beyond infinity!

The 14mm is a easily obtained mass produced lens. Unlikely anyone could ever tell the difference in a photograph. I rented the 14mm for a vacation but found it too wide. My 'holy grail' lens was the 15mm Zeiss in Rolleiflex mount. However after using the Nikkor 14mm I'm no longer looking for anything that wide.

"It’s the world’s widest non-distorting SLR lens"
Seems they've forgotten about the Sigma 12-24mm zoom (which yes, is for 24x36mm).

Why would I need two?

Only useful for taking photos of some one shooting at you with a machine pistol on fully automatic?

Whoever thinks that is rare must have never heard of the Pen 800mm reflex or even its little brother, the 400f6.3.

My 15mm Nikkor is plenty wide enough for me; truth be known, it really doesn't get the use it should (but at least I have it if need be..lol). If Santa wants to leave me something I could really use, me thinks a propack (50 rolls) of 35mm HP5 Plus would be better appreciated.

I have spoken with Rudolph and told him you eat venison... so

Santa will set Rudy straight: The big guy knows that I have been a vegetarian for over three decades!

It should fit Canon FD cameras with a Canon N adapter.
