Is anyone using Hutching´s Max Pyro? How are the experiences compared to PMK? PMK is my long time companion, mostly with TMY. It´s only few weak points are a bit low speed 200 - 250 ASA, that can not be pushed to 400 ASA in my experience, low shadow densities (compensated somewhat by a high shadow contrast) and a high base fog with TMZ, that makes it unusable with that film. Except of that it is the ideal developer for me. Can one overcome the above mentioned drawbacks with the new Max Pyro?

Thanks
Gerhard

You can help minimize base fog by decreasing the chance of the developer interacting with air and oxidating by filling the tank all the way up to the tippy top so that there are no air bubbles.

I use PMK in Jobo rotation 25 rpm, the drums filled with nitrogen. The fog is less than in a full tank standig and agitated in the dark by lifting and rotating the reels.

I have also tried 510-Pyro. It is a bit finer grained but yields even less shadow densities compared to PMK.
